On my Intrepid set to spanish, what should have displayed á é í ó ú
showed up as ´a ´e ´i ´o ´u respectively in text

Accent words are impossible to be reproduced in certains non-gnome apps. P.e.
Opera and Skype thus far. It does not happen with 8.04. It happened with
Intrepid and continues with Jaunty. The keyboard set up is ok. If copy and
pasted it shows up ok.
Use opera a lot,
