Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
I was running update manager while logged in to Ubuntu One. All of a
sudden the screen goes garbaged, only mouse moves around, and the rest
is garbage information. Tried to reboot manually, and so far so good.

Even after choosing the page-size as A4, the saved page is too long,
much longer than the default height for an A4. I expected it to
automatically crop the page to the size of an A4 but instead it looks
like an A4 stretched to 1.5 its height.
Same here on eduroam @ FEUP (Portugal).

Hi.
I've just updated with the package from your ppa. I'm sorry for the delay.
The package conky - 1.7.2-0ubuntu2~karmic3 in

shows voltage and fan speed.

To furthermore pinpoint the problem it seems that the spinning up is happening
because devkit is pooling the disk for smart data.
I did the following:
r...@jupiter:~# hdparm -y /dev/sdc
/dev/sdc:
issuing standby command
r...@jupiter:~# hdparm -C /dev/sdc
/dev/sdc:
drive state is: standby
r.
I figure out what is spinning up the disks.
If I kill devkit-disks-daemon the spinning up stops.
I'm assigning this bug to devkit-disks.

Another thing.
I've been searching to see if I could remove the symlink device but I haven't
found a way to do it.
If it is a leftover from something it must have been done by the system itself.

I just upgraded to the latest kernel and for me the problem still exists.
Later today or tomorrow I will try with the package in your ppa.
And I apologize for not linking the upstream bug to this one.

Could it be kjournald2 that is causing the spin ups?
The disk in question is /dev/sda and apparently there is no write actions to
the disk at the time of spin up.
I don't know how to check if there is any read actions.

I had my disk sleeping with hdparm -S 12 (60 seconds). It has no

I can confirm that the problem has not been fixed. Using 2.6.24.16 I
still have this problem. And scanning doesn't work reliable either, I
have to do several scans before the network appears.
