Yup, during recording, even at 160x120 pixels, processor on Dell
Inspiron 9300 with 1.7GHz Centrino goes to 100% and frames are dropped.
We also have Acer Aspires that show the same effect. This processor
hogging seemed to happen along with the upgrade to Karmic Koala. Thx.

I notice that there are no subscribers to this bug. Can I urge a
developer to look at it? There are many of these processors in
circulation. Even a workaround would be helpful or an indication of
which packages / configuration I could look at would be helpful. Thanks.

CPU Scaling
I prefer using the Gnome text editor as root as follows:
Bring up a Run dialog by pressing alt + F2
Type:
gksu gedit
(and use File Open)
Or directly type:
gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
Enter your password when prompted to edit the file as root user.
