I actually bumped into this today trying to update my kubuntu-karmic
(likely to have been upgraded from Jaunty). Everything's up-to-date but
I still get this:
kur...@lanka:~$ update-notifier-kde -u
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/update-notifier-kde", line 29, in
from PyKD
I seem to have the same problem, trying to connect over openvpn w.
username & password on stable kubuntu karmic 9.10. I see the item on
knetworkmanager menu but clicking it doesn't change anything.
(also the password-field doesn't hide the password as I type it..)

VPN PPTP problem in Kubuntu
I finally decided to install the nvidia driver and restarted the
computer - only to see that also the STA was installed and WLAN worked.
-> looks like it may also have some problems showing if something's
installed or not..

HP dv2140eu here with broadcom. Installed Karmic 64-bit Kubuntu there.
On live, I was able to install the drivers (b43, I think, I have no idea
what's STA). I did it with no network connection, I think.
But now on installed system, with wired network I have the problems
described above. I've upgr
restarted, installed without live session and succeeded.

I had the same with 9.10 final.
Tried to install Kubuntu 64bit from desktop image on usb flash (created
with usb-creator). When the actual installation (or partitioning, what
would I know..) starts, I get the same message.
Sorry, couldn't attach other files, I couldn't open a file manager to

Same 64-bit 9.10 and 0.2.12 usb-creator
I have ~the same here except that it doesn't require the mounting -> the
format button always fails and I can't get to the usb image creation
process..

Either kaffeine should point to /dev/sr0 - or /dev/dvd should exist..
