It fails when ati driver checks archive integrity.

Pulseaudio uses alsa hw:0 devices for input and output and should use
alsa default devices on systems without hardware mixing.
Steps for reproduce:
1) Install pulseaudio and pulseaudio-esound-compat
2) Activate software mixing in System->Prefe
This bug is still present in Feisty final release.

In a fresh install of edgy, "hosts:" line in file nsswitch.conf is:

and should be:

In dapper "mdns" is included in default install.

Bug tested in gnome-nettool 2.16.0-0ubuntu1 and 2.14.2-0ubuntu1.
Gnome-nettool does not crash, it seems to be frozen for about one minute
and then it shows results correctly. Ping in terminal responds
immediately.
I followed your instructions and I pressed Ctrl-C when gnome-nettool was

With gnome-panel 2.16.1-0ubuntu3 my system does not crash anymore.
I uninstalled beagle because Bug #64326. If this is not related, can

When I ping a computer with gnome-nettool using avahi hostname
(pepito.local) instead of IP dirs, gnome-nettool window does not repaint
correctly for several seconds. It seems to be frozen.
With a terminal, ping responds immediately.

Same error here when i close a tab, but using amulegui with a remote
amuled in edgy.

In my computer with a cd mounted:

I can confirm this bug. When you have a cd mounted and press the drive eject
button, in ubuntu, gnome umounts and eject the cd. In kubuntu i have to umount
the drive by hand.
KDE is not working fine with hal and dbus?
