Is the consensus that a banner notification be added? Or, along the
lines mentioned earlier in this bug thread, that the message view will
have a current scrolled index stored and used during a post-refresh

I think the bug still exists. I cannot communicate with any hosts at
the other end of a tunnel created by network-manager-vpnc (NM-vpnc).
The network is multi-subnetted, so the VPN landing zone is separate
from the hosts to which I need to connect.
As with others on this bug, vpnc-connect works,
I received the same error on Hardy and Intrepid when using the HP
LaserJet 4000 Series Postscript [en] (recommended) driver. With
Intrepid, changing the driver to HP LaserJet 4000 series Foomatic/hpijs
[en] resulted in a test print without error.

According to my browser history, I visited PragProg.com on 7-9-08 and I
recall *not* seeing this problem then. Dave Thomas said in an email
yesterday that PragProg has made no code changes to the site since then.
Looking in my problem host's APT log, I see that the following suspect
packages
I see the same, but top shows the spike in Xorg, not in Firefox.
Disabling the screen (and therefore the shared and high) stylesheet
makes things snappy again.
