Metacity has been a stable, reliable substitute for me so far, but I do
want the attractive display that Compiz makes possible. Interestingly,
Compiz is working on my Asus 700, which is so much more primitive than
the 1000. So I'm using it now and planning to wait for the bug fix.

Asus 1000 HE, Atom 280. After a recent update, I have not been able to
configure the external monitor (LG W2252TQ). It will not permit
shutting off the laptop display and turning on the external monitor. At
the moment, desktops 1, 2, 3
I almost forgot: Lucid Lynx.

I see that the binary package hint is ttf-indic-fonts. I suspect that
is from an earlier bug I experienced today, but I'm not the expert.

re-installing with no change in behavior. My Lucid Alpha
installation on a dell laptop does not seem to have this
