Hi Dan,
Could you attach the raw output after running this command? It will
access snapd and get the list of snaps you have installed. The
stacktrace is suggesting you have a snap without a name. I've seen
similar issues show up in automatic crash reports but never been able to
work out why this
The command line finds using these terms:
$ snap find 'oh my'
Name Version Developer Notes Summary
ohmygiraffe 1.1.0a popey - oh my giraffe
The weird thing is gnome-software should be sending the same thing...
Note that searching for "oh" doesn't work in GNOME Software -
Ah, seems to be a bug(?) in GNOME Software - it's only actually throwing
away any search word less that 3 characters. So the search "oh my" is
rejected because none of the words are long enough. "oh my gir" would
just search with "gir".
I would have thought having a total number of characters
The fix for this will be in snapd-glib, it was never built with the
assumption that snapd would restart in the middle of a transaction...
This is somewhat tricky to add because we have to be careful for things
to fail fast if snapd is not installed, but handle a restart during a
transaction (which
@jibel - can you check if this also occurs on older releases? The
restarting code seems to have been there for a while, any idea if this
is a new issue or has always been there?

The cause of this is the Polkit failure is reported back via snapd as a

The cause appears to be multiple threads accessing the same SnapdClient
object at the same time. This causes multiple requests to be sent at the
same time and snapd-glib has a bug that doesn't handle the replies

thread, and

The crash is in new code that was added to the Xenial SRU, not a
regression in existing code.
The stacktrace doesn't point to an obvious issue that is causing this.
It's possible that the hash table has been corrupted by other code gone
wrong. I don't think this is worth blocking the SRU on.
