I want to add:
Windows Vista Business 64bit on HP nx6325 (Sempron) shows in its
'greeting-center' 4GB RAM, but uses also only 2,8 GB as reported in the
extended systeminformation.
There is no existing solution for this bug on this PCs.

As I know the last BIOS F07 of HP Compaq nx6325 from 2007 has no
function to extend the 3GB RAM to 4 RAM.
I looked already for all functions but did not find one.
Is there an option to use another BIOS? I have no idea.

I found meanwhile many other posts, that say this HP Compaq nx6325 (AMD
Sempron 1,8 Ghz) Notebook cannot cope with the full 4 GB RAM in Linux
and in Windows. They can be installed, but only 3 GB will be used and
about 2,8 GB RAM are shown then by the OS or by Windows.

Yes, but I had only 32bit Windows XP Home on this PC. Windows XP Home
32bit only found 3GB RAM.
I hoped to use the full 4 GB RAM with Linux. The HP BIOS finds 4 GB RAM.
