Vacuum cleaner fixed the problem for me. My Thinkpad x201i was reaching
100C temperature regularly after only a few minutes of full load. I
removed keyboard and cleaned the cpu cooler with a vacuum cleaner. Maybe
it could be done by cleaning the cpu cooler venhole only from the
outside.

As a temporary workaround you can install gkrellm-xkb, run gkrellm and
turnoff all monitors except xkb.

If I'm not mistaken then in Gnome 3.4 relies document search in the
Shell on the Gnome Documents and Gnome Documents relies on the Tracker.
If you see nothing in Gnome Documents the Shell finds also nothing
except apps, Nautilus places and optionally contacts.
