This package installs a file under /etc/bash_completion.d/acroread.sh to do
the bash autocompletion of PDF files.
The problem here is that it contains a _filedir() function, similar

Talking from memory, I got the source for the Ubuntu kernel (apt-get
sourcelinux-image-2.6.31-18-generic), then applied that patch and
compiled only the Atheros modules (drivers/net/wireless/ath$ make -C
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.31-18-generic M=`pwd`)
The following git commit in the main tree seems to solve this bug in my
system:

It looks like it have been solved in the Debian package. Quoting the

Well... I think I've got it!
When you press a key in the remote it sends 3 bytes:
The first is always 0xFE, the second is some kind of checksum and the third is
the key code in the lower 6 bits and a repeat flag in the 7th bit.
