varying versions of linux installed since the bug report and I have

Gobnuts - I installed 3.1.4 from a deb package and it works fine.

I dont undertsand entirely what happened here but I had 8.10 beta and
had been upgrading as I went. I have now re-installed from 8.10 final
and got mythtv working fine.
