[Bug 1960604] [NEW] WindowShuffler window rules inconsistent on secondary windows

2022-02-11 Thread Ronald Huetter
Public bug reported: WindowShuffler's window rules do not distinguish between normal windows and dialog windows. As such, the behaviour of rules becomes very inconsistent on secondary windows, up to rendering the feature unusable. A potential solution might be to check for _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE as

[Bug 1913963] Re: [Cherry Trail] [modeset] Cursor flickering on dual screen setup

2021-02-02 Thread Ronald Huetter
In Ubuntu-Budgie the above trick doesn't solve the problem. I notice that Ubuntu Desktop is using gdm3 whereas Ubuntu Budgie is using lightdm. They are calling xorg with different arguments. So I reconfigured Budgie for gdm3 and, after creating the monitor.xml file, the flicker is gone. I hope, th

2021-02-02 Thread Ronald Huetter
Have to add to the above: after first login, I rearranged the screens using the Display Settings. That creates a file ~/.config/monitors.xml. That file does some magic in preventing the flickering. However, it becomes effective only after logging out and logging in again, so I was mislead when test

[Bug 1913963] Re: [Cherry Trail] [modeset] Cursor flickering on dual screen setup

2021-02-02 Thread Ronald Huetter
Hi, first to say: I've been testing Ubuntu-Budgie. There is no option to run on Wayland. So I downloaded (2021-02-02) and installed Ubuntu 21.04 Desktop to perform the test and found some surprising results: 1. fresh installation, running on Xorg: the flickering is clearly visible. In fact, the
