Ubuntu. The following procedure allows the modules to build:

AFAIK, the extra -- indicates that start-stop-daemon should pass the
remaining arguments to ifup/ifdown, rather than trying to process them
itself. The start-stop-daemon(8) manpage says as much.
Also, ifupdown already says --allow auto, not --allow=auto, and my
patch doesn't change that.
This change breaks hotplug for all network devices, because none of the
wired, PPP, Bluetooth, etc. devices on my system have a DRIVER sysfs
attribute. For example:

libxcb1 isn't actually damaged, as indicated by

The updated FDI file doesn't seem to help. Nautilus now launches for
both partitions (rhythmbox doesn't launch), and my ipod (mini 2G) is

It's a feature, not a bug :-) Scp auto-completion actually contacts the
remote host to find paths on it. If you have password-less SSH
authentication, this works well. If not, it takes a few seconds anyway
to contact the host and fail the authentication. Rejecting.

You can disable customised tab completion for scp by adding complete
-r scp to the end of ~/.bash_profile
Of course, this will also remove hostname completion. I find it easier
to just refrain from using tab completion on slow servers. I find the
feature very useful on LAN computers though.

I can confirm this bug. The iPod ships with two partitions, sda1
(firmware) and sda2 (vfat, possibly hfs+). I resized sda2 and added
another ext2 partition sda3 for iPodLinux. HAL treats both sda2 and sda3
as iPod devices, when in fact it should treat sda3 as a normal USB drive

when trying to reboot it prints the following message: (with quiet
removed from the kernel command line)

Also try 'w', 'b' and 'c' as well.
None of 'h', 'w', 'b', and 'c' work. The only change is that with
reboot=b the No reboot fixup... message doesn't appear.

I also have a Toshiba Satellite M20 with the same problem. The Live CD
works fine, but an installed system panics while Mounting Root
Filesystem with IIRC the same error as Carmelo reports. Rarely, it
doesn't panic at that step, but invariably panics while logging in. If I
