Upon logging in to the console with ctrl-alt-f1 top revealed unity-
greeter being run by user lightdm was the culprit. Immediately after
issuing `sudo killall unity-greeter` the screen switched to graphical
boot and I was presented with a login screen and everything proceeded

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit by booting from a pen drive. Not sure if
the pen drive which has writeable space is creating issues because the
error messages include the installer searching for /vmlinuz which is
apparently not available.

I cannot run pulse audio because, I keep getting this error:
module.c: Failed to open module module-hal-detect: file not found
I will try to attach the log file that I have attached here to the bug

I'm in the process of testing Ubuntu as a VM and I'm unable to determine

airprime module is loaded.. but when I try to connect using network manager
(after proper configuration), it connects.
But then it gets disconnects every 2.5 to 2.6 minutes.

Sorry, if I am missing some trivial thing. Once I start eclipse, it
crashes before I can even goto menus to disable the Validation. Once I
click open work space - it takes me to license agreement and crashes
before I even get to menus.
Appreciate any pointers.
