Ubuntu, Maverick 2.6.35-25-generic works fine with this camera. It's still a
good camera, too. ;-)

I also had the same issue. I have two FirePro v3700 (R620) cards
install. If both cards initialized it hard-locked as soon as X tried to
start. It left an empty /var/log/Xorg.0.log file.

On a completely clean install using 9.10pre I have the same problem. I
have mirrored boot drives and it installs fine on them, but when it
tries to boot it drops to an initramfs prompt. When I do 'ls /dev/sd*'
I see sda and sdc, but none of the partitions. However if I go through
the dmesg
It defaults to 640 x 480 you can't change it or any other settings. It
does work at that setting, though. It just freezes on my machine after a few
seconds when I try to record in Cheese.
The Windows driver has from 180 x ??, 320 x 240, 640 x 480 and I believe
600 x 800, but not positive.

that hardware compatibility would be at the top of the list. As for the
kernel that I am using, I went back to using i386 under Windows, so I'm not

Due to my impatience, I dove right in to compiling a new kernel without
being very cautious. I didn't use any .deb packages, I did everything from
the source, as I did this time, except after running the patch, I used
make-kpkg menuconfig instead of oldconfig to build the kernel_image.deb

installer won't install the i386 packages, even though it says it's for
i386_64. I have IA32 installed, but I guess it doesn't work for deb

Thank you for your response. I did get the problem resolved with a couple of
manual updates. Now the only problem I have is not being able to reboot,
which may be a hardware problem. I'll know more when the PC gets back from
HP with a new MB.
