Similar problem after Standby here.
Password screen shows up with colors and strange lines. I can enter the

Confirmed that I had this problem after updating from 10.04 to 10.10.
And confirmed that updating the policykit with the version provided by
James Westby solves this issue (at least in my case).

Well, maybe the fix was committed, but at least it has not reached my Maverick
10.10 64bit yet.
If I try to update the policykit-1 through apt, I am informed that the newest
version is alread installed, but the installed version is policykit-1
(0.96-2ubuntu1). So I am still struggeling with the

This phenomenon occured recently. I am running Ubuntu 10.04 since it was
published and everything was fine until a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately I
am not exactly sure when it happened, but my impression is that it takes place
since the last kernel update.

Same for me - cardreader not working on HP dv6000 (at least for Memory
Stick Pro).
I did not get in working in previous Ubuntu version and the workaround
does not work for me on Koala either.

I am running Ubuntu Hardy LTS on a HP Pavilion dv6000 and have the same
problem. Also no vga command.
Also nvidia working and I can enter blindly on the console (so console is
working), but I have not managed to see it while gdm is running.
