Rob,
The problem is much improved under Gutsy, though Network Manager still has a
hard time in situations with multiple AP to one network. Like you said, I
just have a manual setting for campus use now. At least it (almost) never
locks up now.

Binary package hint: blender
My Ubuntu system installs modules by default to python 2.5. Blender is
still being compiled with python 2.4, so new python modules are not
visible to it. Blender source packages exist to support python 2.5 - it
should match the other system
Arkan,
The problem was fixed for me largely when I upgraded to Gutsy... it may be
the kernel.

@Magnus,
Could be - I would only get the crash in a situation with multiple access
points to the same network. It looked like it would flip back and forth
between two AP and eventually lose it...

I wonder if this bug will disappear magically under Gutsy?

these?

Here's another clue:
netstat becomes a zombie proc after NetworkManager loses the AP the first
time...

I don't seem to be able to file a bug under NetworkManager! Maybe I
need to file a bug about that...

This happened again today - I'm now running NetworkManager in --no-
daemon mode to see if I can catch the crash.

So, the last line from NetworkManager is always:
NetworkManager: information wpa_supplicant(8496): WPA: Association event -
clear replay counter
NetworkManager: information wpa_supplicant(8496): EAPOL: External
notification - portEnabled=0
NetworkManager: information Activation (eth1)
I think I may have a similiar problem - though my keyboard locks up, and
I am unable to switch to another terminal or log out or turn off the
WLAN. I'm using a Broadcom 4309 chipset with the bcm43xx driver and
wpa_supplicant. This only happens when Network Manager is forced to
scan repeatedly.
I'm still getting the same bug with Feisty. I was able to install the
package, but Synaptic is unhappy. Its still reporting the file as not
found.
