To manage notifications
After a reboot, I now get:
dpkg: error processing archive libasound2-data_1.1.7-2_all.deb (--install):
installing libasound2-data would break libasound2:amd64, and
deconfiguration is not permitted (--auto-deconfigure might help)
Errors were encountered while processing:
I get 'dpkg frontend is locked by another process' after the dpkg
command. No idea what process this is.

Thanks for the tip, but I use the machine mainly at home and would find
internal speakers much more convenient. On a different thread, there's
talk of downloading UCM files to fix this (specifically UCM-
master/bytcr5645 and chtrt5645), but no details of where from. Perhaps
it's obvious to Ubuntu
Anybody know a way we can bump it up the queue?

I wonder how many HP Pavilion X2 owners (and others with machines using
the same sound chip) are running Linux? Presumably none of them have any
sound.

Still not working - November 2018. First reported March 2016 and doesn't
appear to have been assigned to a developer for attention. Is this
