I can confirm this bug is an upstream bug.
I moved from Ubuntu to Fedora for this reason but it's still present even on
the latest Fedora 30 with kernel 5.0.17.
Gnome shell (xorg or wayland) freezes mostly when using Chrome, I can't get Sys

I can confirm this bug in Oneiric with Chrome browser. If I try to move
a bookmark, or add from urlbar to bookmarks-bar my mouse pointer hangs
until Unity panel is shown. Sometimes this makes impossible to add a

It seems that the DNS problem is corrected.
I have to add that Empathy depends on NM now, and if I connect to the
net using the pon script, I can't use the IM app because it doesn't see
an active internet connection.

Today I've tried t connect 4 times without success, and I have to use my pon
script to reach the net.
I've googled around and it seems that a lot of 3G modems aren't supported by
NM0.8 and ModemManager.

In Jaunty we'llhave udev-extras that works well with these kind of devices.
I hope it will be installed by default when Jaunty will be released.

Some additional info:
The issue only happens when I'm connected with a 3G modem (ppp0 interface).
When using eth0 interface the network monitor works correctly.
It could be that the applet is only monitoring wired connections?

I'm experiencing the same issue on Jaunty (it works in Intrepid).
gome-system-monitor correctly displays the network usage , the system
monitor applet not!
I've noticed that the flavor of net monitor in the applet has changed to

I have a similar issue on Jaunty, except that I can't see no activity at
all. Works for me in gnome-system-monitor and in Intrepid.
