I previously configured our Lucid workstation on Static IP, however,
recent company policy changes forced me to use 2 network connections.
Here's the current company setup:
The gateway/router supplying our wired connection with IP Address
yes it does, both the local and shared (from XP) printers works well. I
just can't share them. And both are listed on lpstat. Both printers are
also set as shared.
What bothers me though, after doing Google and LP search, is that I
think I'm the only one affected by this bug (on Lucid).

The latest kernel update has now prevented me from resuming from suspend
(as well as resuming from hibernate). The stock kernel on the Maverick
iso would allow me to resume from suspend but hangs on resume from
hibernate (I did check on it).
I've lost a lot of work because of
fixed it by applying the workaround by Mathias. However, I wonder why we
only got affected a few days back after an update. NM's one of the first
package to get uninstalled since I don't want my users messing around
with the connection.

Yeah, I essentially had to do the same. Moving a single directory was
impossible, as it tended to be multiple directories that caused it. First, I
dragged out the non-system hidden files, then the system hidden files. Next, I
restarted and moved back everything except these hidden directories

1) Change MAC address of an existing connection named Auto eth0
2) Network Manager will create a new connection named Auto Ethernet

Found the problem, but in fixing it I have no idea what fixed it.
Someone suggested to me that the problem was one of the hidden folders
in the Home directory. I went through a few folders that I thought
might have been problems, and in doing so was able to fix it.
Unfortunately, I don't remember
Nevermind, the bug was fixed in the next set of upgrades I did after my
initial safe-upgrade. I'm going to close this bug.

Hey guys, I'm new to Lucid Lynx, but I think I have a solution. Go into
the Synaptic Package Manager and do a search for "indicator-messages".
Uninstall that package, but do NOT uninstall "indicator-applet".
You'll need to logout and then login again to see the changes. Caveat

I am experiencing this upon upgrading from Karmic to Lucid Beta 2. The
process "polkitd" is sucking up a lot of CPU and accumulates memory
usage over time until it maxes out the memory. This is also affecting
dbus-daemon. And yes, PulseAudio does seem to take up quite a bit of
CPU at times.

I have update to Lucid, and for some reason it didnt install properly.
First of all it starts in console mode. Then when i try and do a startx it
starts the graphics but only shows a terminal window in the left corner of the

Try this:
rm -r ~/.pulse*
Then run gnome-alsamixer to re-adjust the volume settings (more
specifically, the Master and PCM settings). This fixed the problem for
me. Then again, I have an SB Live 5.1 card.
