When I play videos in youtube, vlc or the default videos there are lags
and a lot of times the screen freezes. No cursor or keys work. I cannot
even skip the video. It freezes almost as frequent as 9 out of 10 times

I had the same problem on Hardy.
Then I removed jackd was giving error so I used
synaptic. And changed Audacity playback to OSS and recording to ALSA. It works
now.
