I am using vdpau as well with the proprietary nvidia driver ( while the
nouveau driver is not on a acceptable level yet ). Even so the hardware
acceleration is disabled / greyed out when I am starting
I can confirm that its broken in Natty ( for any kind of video media types,
such as xvid or h264 ).
Surprisingly the audio playback seems to work on my machine.
Hopefully somebody changes the priority/importance of this bug to
critical. So that we have the chance to get a fix soon. In the mean ti

Ubuntu 9.10 was booted up without installing it, but it should not make
a difference for this bug.
I've started playing a 720p James Bond .mkv movie from the HDD, and it
went smoothly, until i wondered about the CPU load and started the
"system monitor" from the system -> adm
I could chime in and implement this feature as if someone would offer a
"bounty" on it. Unfortunately, ATM, I can't do it for free. :(

I just encountered this issue with ubiquity - couldn't install latest
ubuntu on my fakeraid raid0 array. Pretty bad user experience, disk
manager took _very_ long time to load (judging by dmesg, kernel is
trying to mount tons of different fs types), didn't detect RAID0,
display showed 2 RAID HDDs a
I fixed the bug, it seems to be caused by the shortcuts assigned by default for
the Screenshot action. If it is replaced
in System | Preferences | Keyboard Shortcuts the Alt + Prt Screen by another
one. Then it does not reproduce it. It seems that this odd behavior is keen to
appear mostly for H
Yep, mounting with /dev/evms/hda1 works. Error message kernel spews
could be a more elaborate one ie. "/dev/hda1 locked by evms (or a list
of modules), try mounting /dev/evms/hda1" ;)

Hi all,
I do have the same problem with same type of HP Omnibook, except that I can't
boot 7.04 at all. Even my upgraded kubuntu on hard disk nor the Feisty Beta
install cd is bootable at all.
The last mesage I see is something with udev-rules and then Loading hardware
drivers..
