It appears to me you are just using the onboard sound and not your
Creative SB X-Fi Extreme card. The purpose of this bug report is to try
and gain working sound using the card. You have not posted a fix. You
have described how to turn this card off when booted into Ubuntu. We

I am not able to test this currently as my Ubuntu box, mobo just died,
but I believe it may be a solution if someone can test it out and report
back.

sudo apt-get install alsa-base alsa-utils build-essential linux-
headers-$(uname -r)
sudo alsa unload
sudo remove alsa-modules-
