My problem was after all not the linux/kernel's fault.
I had this panic on a virtual linux ubuntu. The panic was caused because i
allocated more virtual cpu's to the guest vm
than i had physical cpu's available.
i had 2 vm's with each 2 vCPU's on a quad core system. The windows VM ran
stable,
Maybe it would help describing the situation.
I'm on Citrix XenServer 5.0 (the commercial solution, though using the express
(free) version).
I had this occur 2 times, and both times i was using aptitude/apt-get to
install some software. The 1st time i was also copying large files over
the networ

I have the same kernel panic, with Ubuntu 8.0.4 and Xen kernel. This is
a VM on a Citrix XenServer 5.0 (hypervisor) !
