I had rolled my own kernel last night with the patch applied and didn't
notice any improvement until I disabled tiling.
Hopefully Andy's kernel will fare better so that I don't need to disable
tiling.

I find it unacceptable that a user must wait until said notification
disappears.

MPlayer 1.0rc2 is no longer recommended by the MPlayer devs. It is 2
years outdated. Furthermore, there have been so many significant changes
since 1.0rc2 that MPlayer is almost a completely different player today.
