Laptop won't shutdown correctly when on battery

Ubuntu 12.04 x64 running on Toshiba R830 (core i5, intel graphics)
Shutdown operation is doing fine most of the time when my laptop is connected
on power supply.
But, when doing the same when my laptop is running on its battery, the shutdown

This bug does affect me too.
FYI, here is my config: lucid with kernel 2.6.32-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP
x86_64 GNU/Linux
Is that linked to x86_64 architecture?
