Another note, I'm able to make chrome usable on my external monitor by opening it using the following command. Obviously if I move chrome to my 4k laptop monitor it becomes unusable. But just documenting it as another avenue. GDK_DPI_SCALE=.5 google-chrome -- You received this bug notification

I'm not sure how long you've been trying it with IMAP+, but I as well tried that a while ago thinking it solved it. But like my original description says this happens in sporadic time periods. After using it with IMAP+ for a little while the same behavior happened with the folders disappearing.
