After reviewing this - I suspect the issue is the modifications to ata_piix to prevent it from loading on a Hyper-V platform. Since ata_piix now detects a Hyper-V platform and unloads if it's found, this would prevent the OS from installing. We need a modification to the patch here

In an attempt to repro this to get logs, I downloaded Natty Alpha 3 (daily build 20110309) to my home server - and attempted an install. Ten minutes after clicking Forward on the Preparing to install Ubuntu screen, the wait icon is still spinning - it never makes any progress to the next screen.
