This is on 8.04 Ubuntu with a clean install of firestarter (no rules applied).
With the firewall disabled I can use smbtree/nautilus to browse shares,

I'd also like to add that this is not only a prolem with OPENDNS but any
DNS server that redirects bad requests. For example, my ISP is Charter
Communications and they redirect all bad lookups to their "helpful"
search page, so in essence all lookups are good. This confuses some
apps, like samba.

Nautilus is no longer listing smb shares. It used to, now it doesn't.
The server is a samba server which serves WinXP machines and linux

I had this same issue. I went into preferences and noticed that
audacity was using OSS for audio. I set playback and recording to
"ALSA: default" and everything seems to be working perfectly. I was
able to record multi-track audio clips without any problem.
