downgrade to the version of hotkey-setup in intrepid repository

Confirmed bug on ThinkPad T60 -- please note, this did *NOT* happen when
I was running 9.04 Beta and Release Candidates.

i'd like to confirm this bug
the weird thing is, i didn't know I even had accessibility enabled on my
laptop until i went to system assistive technologies
but I do have a workaround:
use gconf-editor:
and set /apps/rhythmbox/plugins/mmkeys/active to FALSE
the only problem with this
i've noticed similar hardware lockups, but it usually happens when i'm
running virtualbox, i just installed a big batch of updates, including
kernel updates, and i can't figure out which update caused this problem

Thank you for that work around, that did the trick for me.
--auto-powerstates=off would prevent X from crashing if the computer already
boot in AC power, but did not fix the problem with booting on battery
--acpi-services=off solved the bootup problem

sudo aticonfig --auto-powerstates=off
and yes, i'm having the same problem on my T60
and this problem also exists with 2:8.561 direct from ATI

I am still having this problem in intrepid, however I did not do a fresh
install and would like to avoid doing a fresh install. Does anybody know

remove the directory called mmkeys located in /usr/lib/rhythmbox/plugins/

I'm having the same problem, I like the laptop to be at full brightness
when on AC power
I'm running a ThinkPad T60 w/ an ATI Radeon x1400
when I plug the power back in, i need to manually readjust the
brightness settings, i played around with gconf-editor, but even with
the AC brightness turned
and the weird part is, if I use the brightness applet to adjust the
display brightness, I can still manage to turn up the brightness all the
way.

hm, interesting, the color and hue is fine when I start gnome in XGL:
