As you can see in the blkids outpus, the partitions sda1 and sdb1 have
the same UUID. This is why you get the error message when you try to
mount sdb1 since it is already mounted as sda1.
We need more information why this might have happened.

bizarrely I can read data from it and it mounts from an image... but still
unable to mount actual drive:

Public bug reported:
I have a partition that just refuses to mount in feisty, worked fine in
edgy. It gives every impression of being mounted, but isn't.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt
mount: /dev/sdb1 already mounted or /mnt busy
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# file -s /dev/sdb1
/dev/sdb1:
I think it was pretty unreasonable to reject this. The machine was
installed with Dappa and upgraded to Edgy and then Feisty. Nothing else
has touched the machine. Dappa assigned the drive a /dev/sd* address,
Edgy was fine with it, and Feisty screwed it up. In what way isn't this
a bug?

Public bug reported:
In edgy my mounts were
/ - /dev/hda1
/meda/sda1 - /dev/sda1
But in feisty the kernal thinks that /dev/hda1 is now /dev/sda1... and
so it leads to a recursive mount at /media/sda1 - / and I lost my scsi
drive. I now need to reboot and remap fstab to say it's at /dev/sdb1
This still exists in Feisty :-(

Plugging in a 5300C with USB results in this:
[17179723.368000] usb 3-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address
3
[17179733.548000] usb 3-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[17179733.552000] usb 3-2: can't set config #1, error -71
And thats it. This
I'm happy to debug this using usbmon etc with a few pointers. I seem to
need a dbg kernel for a start?

This is getting very stupid. :-)
I've just upgraded to FF 2.0.0.1 and it's overwritten the manual patch
to fix it, and started crashing again.
When is this going to get fixed? Just imagine all the people without a
web browser, or people I've installed ubuntu for who now thing it's
rubbish
oops, accidentally clicked 'also needs reporting here'. sorry.

Upgraded to edgy. FF crashes on random pages (alamo.com is one) with
this:

I've tried to get gdb to spit out a trace but it complains that
/usr/bin/firefox isn't a binary (its a script). So I tried it with
/usr/lib/firefox/firefox-bin but now it complains about not finding
libraries and I'm at the end of my gdb knowledge

Firefox random crashes in Edgy
It's Flash. I removed
.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
and it works. I tried installing flashplugin-nonfree but it doesn't show
up.
