On my Ubuntu 16.04 I changed this file: ~/.local/share/applications/chromium-browser.desktop from: Exec=chromium-browser --enable-pinch to: Exec=chromium-browser %U --enable-pinch Now it works as expected, opening the URL in Chromium when I click a link in an external application.
