Through further research it is generally said that the autohinting needs
to be turned off by default due to patent restrictions. Those wishing
to enable good looking fonts on LCDs may run dpkg-reconfigure
fontconfig, selecting appropriate options there. Also pasting a
.fonts.conf file from ubuntu
Font hinter seems to be fixed now. For users with LCDs that want to
enable truetype, you may set custom settings via

today through update manager, although the update did not solve any
problems until printer was unplugged and plugged back in.

I reinstalled cups and its dependencies (--purging), reinstalled, and
still the same errors. Tried ljet4 driver still same errors. Unplugged
printer and plugged it back in, and now everything works. Not sure why,
possible kernel driver problem?

Despite the above post to the contrary, this bug is not solved, and
exists with NVIDIA cards also. Also "needs info", what do you need?
