Confirmed resolved with nvidia 390.141 and kernel 5.8.0-36-lowlatency.

Updating grub-pc from version 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu3 to version
1.97~beta4-1ubuntu4 fails. While using version 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu3 I had
manually edited /etc/grub.d/10_linux and /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober to make the
menu entries
