To me it seems (from the sequence above) like it reads from EDID,
understand that it's wrong when calculating the dpi but somehow forgets
it when KMS is started. Could someone more experienced with this than my
hours of googeling if I'm on the right track?

Yesterday I upgraded to Karmic. Karmic uses KMS. When I rebooted kdm had
huge fonts. KDE also had huge fonts, and Firefox had huge fonts and so
huge graphics that only the three first buttons on the navigation tool
bar was visible

additional features like blocking scripts and plugins that could leak
traffic from Tor. This avoids people listening to the connection or at
the destination to figure out the real IP.

The reason that it does not show up in Firefox 3 is that the version of
Torbutton in Ubuntu is old and not made for Firefox 3. Bug 247867
