There are certain applications that should be handled in a "windows-centric"
way :
- terminal windows
- editors like gvim
- some users might also prefer windows-centricity for office documents
Please take into account this scenario :
- one terminal with a ssh connection
- one terminal for watc
It should be possible that for all the applications in the Launcher :
right-click opens a context menu that always contains "Start New ..." ,
"Remove", etc.
Allowing the user to be in control of opening the applications is a
basic feature , and Unity fails to achieve that.
About two weeks ago
The logical way is right-click on the icon, and display a menu that
contains "Start New ..." .
Middle-click is definitely not discoverable .
I am have just found out about this possibility now when I found this already
existing bug !
Unfortunately this is too late for me. I have already r
Wow, it's good to see that there is a clear intention to make the icons
in Launcher fully user-configurable , including the special ones like
Workspaces .
But why is Trash treated as a special case ?
The user should be allowed to (re)move it , too .

Uninstalling that package has fixed the problem.
However, this could still be a bug :the appmenu is a Unity feature that is
apparently incorrectly isolated and affects other desktop environments.

Today I've applied large set of updates , and the Launcher seems to work
properly now.
By the way : before updating I had no "Launcher and menus" option in System
Settings.
