I had similar. After updating last night (I am using the unity-2d-team
ppa) I got the desktop with no unity-2d-panel or unity-2d-launcher. I
logged in on the recovery console and re-ran sudo apt-get install
unity-2d-default-settings and everything came up fine. This happened
on two separate
@Maarten: I don't think I did anything other than reinstall unity-2d-
default-settings. As a matter of fact, I think I did unity-qt-default-
settings on the first machine. Both came up back normally, with both
showing Unity 2d in the chooser, and I checked version numbers and they
are current

I believe this is an incorrect behavior. I should have control over my
own system to make windows the size I want without them going maximized.
Case in point, Firefox is taking up roughly 75% of my screen and it
maximizes every time I launch. At very least, the thresholds need to be
tweaked to
still an issue in 10.04, should this still qualify as bug?

I have the same problem in 32bit Lucid also. Nvidia GeForce FX 5200.
Also worked up to a month ago, also tried the clutter_vblank=none to no
effect. I'm using the Ricotz repositories now too.

It works correctly for me in Compiz, Metacity has always been the
problem. Will there be a fix that get pushed to Ubuntu's repositories
community-themes?

Difference is Metacity vs Compiz. Behavior is as intended in Compiz,
broken in Metacity. If this is now in the wrong group, would some admin
please make sure this is properly assigned. We are getting close to

I'm using 0.4.2 Humanity-Dark and I see the same as Friedrich on my
Jaunty install. Volume icon is way too dark for a dark panel. I
noticed on my Karmic beta install, the panel icons look similar to the
ones from 0.3.1. Am I missing something or is Karmic using a different
volume icon?
