Same here:
Dell Inspiron 9200 wirh ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 using opensource drivers.
Computer wakes up, but screen remains off. Notification sounds can be heard so
I think everything else is working properly.

I'm using 32 bit Kubuntu with Mobility Radeon 9600.
When booting Kubuntu, plymouth shows only at the end for a second. Before I see
only black screen.
At shutdown plymouth shows properly.

icons as back/forward/refresh if this theme is selected. And Oxygen
already has .png mime icons.
