The global menus is my major gripe with Unity since I found a patch to
move the dock from the left to the bottom of the screen. Global menus
kill the mouse-over focus functionality which I use heavily. The global
menu for the last window passed over with the pointer appears rather
than the menu for
+1 for the behavior here with ctrl-alt-arrow. Even happens when rotating
the cube with the mouse. When you stop on a desktop, the old one flashes
there momentarily. nVidia 8800GTS, current proprietary drivers, using
Unity.

few hours this morning, I decided that I could live without the music
store for a while. I installed the other two ppa's cited by Luminary
(Thanks!) and updated to the latest releases of aptdaemon, ubuntu one

OK, your question told me what I needed to know. I was using the
webupd8team ppa for lucid, which apparently outran the support libraries
with the latest ubuntu one plugin. I disabled the ppa, uninstalled
rhythmbox and all its plugins, then reinstalled from the basic lucid
repositories. Everything
I got the plugin from the webupd8team ppa for rhythmbox. I will disable
that and try regressing the versions.
Will Maverick's aptdaemon work in Lucid? Will all the dependencies be
fulfilled?

I just developed this issue in Lucid x86_64. Everything worked fine
until the plugin update to 1.9 last week. I'm using Rhythmbox 0.13.1.

I have the bootsplash issue with the Lucid release. I'm using x86_64
Lucid on an Intel Core 2 Quad with 8 GB of RAM and an NVidia 8800 GTS
card w/640 MB of RAM. The successful first boot from the hard drive
showed the bootsplash, but subsequent boots after loading the current

I just killed the process I wrote about this afternoon. In checking the
database, I noticed that it was last written over 2.5 hours ago. Yet,
the update-apt-xapian process was still taking 100% of one CPU core
until I just killed it. I took David's advice and moved the executing
script from /etc/cr
Confirmed problem on Ubuntu 9.04 x86_64 Jaunty. I am running in Intel
Core 2 Quad Q9650 CPU, and the update-apt-xapian process takes 100% of
one core. As of this writing, it has run for 468:50:30 according to top
with no end in sight. This is absurd.

Based on what I've read here, I just installed xorg-core 8.3 and the its
two related package updates over an operational kubuntu gutsy nvidia
setup and everything works fine after restarting the xserver. The nvidia
symbolic links remained intact. Looks like 8.3 does the trick.

My OS crashed big time today, taking the \ partition down with it. I had
to rebuild the \ partition from scratch, but my \home partition survived
relatively intact. After a complete reinstall, the USB automounting
problem remained unchanged. That was a bit disappointing.

Bug also happens with an Epson Stylus CX7800 All-in-one scanner, Feisty
x86-64, Epson backend. None of the workarounds on this page help. The
error I get in every case is "scanimage: sane_start: Operation not
supported" This scanner worked perfectly on Edgy. All other USB
devices work fine.
