Solved here: added statement:
"import logging" (without the quotes) to file: /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/UpdateManager.py I found the above fix somewhere on the internet. sorry , forgot where. Also: In file : /etc/environment: I corrected my locales to: LANGUAGE=en LC_ALL=C LC_CTYPE=C LC_MESSAGES=C LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_TIME=nl_NL.UTF-8 LC_MONETARY=nl_NL.UTF-8 LC_NUMERIC=nl_NL.UTF-8 Although I really don know it the latter has something to do with it.
