The fix given in #5 didn't work. This might be a different bug (or not,

If it helps, the login screen drums sound plays twice. Once when it

I would suggest making the right-click menu for the indicator applet
have a label. Put a grayed-out entry at the top of the menu that says
GNOME Indicator Bar or GNOME Indicator Applet, or just Indicator
Applet.

Using a Toshiba Satellite A105. After being unable to upgrade from Edgy
Eft to Feisty Fawn, I just reinstalled the whole OS from a new image.
Everything in Feisty works fine except for sound (and out-of-the-box
media compatibility, but that's another issue). Sound worked
