The non-printing characters still vanish after pdf export or print.
After pdf export the reappear after restart of LO or after pressing the
button. However, after print the bug is still there.

+1 vote for that bug. (Sadly there is no voting feature here.)
Many of our users here in the company are not that IT-skilled that they could
handle the workaround or find the settings in the menu. It would be really
great if this bug could be fixed.

The mime icon for *.doc files in dolphin is ? instead of the ms-word icon.
Temp. solution for my kubuntu 8.04, KDE 4.1.2:
Make a symmlink from application-vnd.ms-word.svgz to application-msword.svgz in
/usr/lib/kde4/share/icons/oxygen/scalable (/128x128, 64x64 etc.) and run
