On a samsung laptop running karmic (upgraded from jaunty) I started
experiencing problems
with firefox today. firefox periodically stalls/blocks the system completely.
The time interval
is around 1min.

I am experiencing the same problem trying to access network://
I'm running 9.04/i386 with all updates installed as of today.
All networking used to work fine so the problem must have
been brought up through some upgrade at some point in time..

I must have been blind, but I just realized that it seems like cups is
not using the right driver at all - the printer test page list:
Product: GPL Ghostscript
Serial #: 42
when it should really be:
Product: Brother-MFC-7820N
Serial-#: 888078254
The cups web interface of course reports that
The printer has NOT been configured with system-config-printer but using the
cups
web interface.
The ppd file in /etc/cups/ppd is correct - it is the brother printer file. In
fact
I even tried copying the ppd file from my working hardy installation over this
one which
had no effect (and as
I have this problem as well. Even when I do a refresh of the inbox it does
not display the correct amount of unread mails. It just gets corrected after
some arbitrary time.

my desktop. (hence cupsys 1.3.7 vs 1.3.8)
Printing a test page from the web interface of cups on my desktop is okay,
but the test-page is not printed correctly from my laptop. The

I am running 8.10 on a Samsung Q45. The brightness control now works somewhat
but is still
bugy. At first attempt I could change brightness just fine, but then the
keyboard seemed to
be dead. X did however receive ctrl-alt-1 and after switching to a tty and back

Update from my side:
In may case this appears to be the cause of a screw up inthe profiles, maybe
through a plugin.
When starting a new profile the problem is gone

I have to correct myself! This is NOT the cpu fan, it is the fan of the
nvidia geforce 7900GS which is making the noise.
I am using the 'nv' driver.
