I agree. After the fix was committed for 11.10, the bug was gone. Now,
in 12.04 it's back.
Although I cannot confirm it, using the mouse or the hud. However, I'd
really like to be able to use the shortcut again.

clean install of Oneiric with the current stable kernel 3.0.0-12-generic
and also got exactly the same messages as you. However the command
mentioned in #38 yields no zero-length files in my folder.

I open a local folder (e.g. the Desktop) in nautilus in the list view.
Then I press Ctrl+Shift+N. An 'untitled folder' is created and I can type to
give it the desire

But contrary to the first posting, "print to file" has the same problem, and
even the print preview contains the scattered letters.
