Same problem on 14.10, with gnome-shell (gnome 3) Trying to login to my university's wifi with PEAP. This seems to be a common situation (#6, #7), and the workaround in #10 works for me (select any cert in /etc/ssl/certs/ and remove the "ca-cert=..." line from the appropriate file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ )
