I've posted the same bug in
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/68390 affect
dpkg-reconfigure too, and don't detect no only modelines, don't detect
graphical module(only select vesa) and don't detect monitor(CRT). I¡ve
detect in post-installation.

I've tested too in my laptop, and there was the same problem, is a
serious bug, a very serious bug because the user can make not working
his X session.
