Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) Alpha 2 is booting with disabled WLAN! (tested
via usb stick)
Ubuntu 11.04 (natty) using latest Kernel (2.6.38-10) still not.

This was not observed in earlier Ubuntu versions.

I can confirm this on Kubuntu 10.10 (maverick). Trying Christians workaround I
found a solution, that worked for me:
uninstalling (+removing config) of kde, gnome and gkt integration by
sudo apt-get remove
No, updating to 10.10 worked fine.

installed on my kubuntu karmic, the update process was cancled at 90%, leeding
to a borken system, that I hat to fix by running
apt-get remove openoffice.org-writer2latex
