Nothing new on this issue? (I'm having the same problem, with the same
device). Don't have ANY time on my hands ATM to try upstream kernels,
just looking for a quick fix

I've quit using the HP mini 110 toy-computer and purchased a 13 laptop
with proper computing functionality, so I can't say, but am using
Kubuntu 12.04 on the new one; as soon as I can plug in the external
wireless adapter, I'll post the results!
