I figured it out... the problem was setting the templates directory in
.config/user-dirs.dirs as:
XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/Desktop"
This causes nautilus to go berserk for some reason; I should have known
better than to set one of the directories to my Desktop, I guess.

okay, I had to delete the old instance of the printer, then let it find
the printer again. And I added the apparmor line to the wrong place...
silly me. Now I can verify that adding the line to apparmor makes
everything okay in this bug. The only thing left for me is the usb
process at 100%, whi
not fixed here... added the string to apparmor, restart apparmor, now
even the workaround doesn't work... and why can't I see my usb devices
by just running lsusb all of a sudden? now I need to be root to see
them. Anyway, here's dmesg:

Thanks Sebastien, here's a backtrace, but I am not sure I am doing it
right; I get to the part where I type "continue" and then try to
replicate the problem. After opening a window, nautilus peaks the cpu,
then stops. I have to open a new terminal and type "killall nautilus"
to continue making th

really knowing what I was doing, because of a bug in an upgrade that
left me without a gui. Eventually I figured out how to use the tar.gz,
diff, and dsc packages on Launchpad, but I am not sure if I fudged

2) start strace
3) open a folder
3) wait for folder to become responsive
4) close the folder

I don't know if it helps, but I was able to find and add the printer
using foomatic-gui; I had to use an optional ppd from gimp-print project
to do so, and the result was a non-functioning visible printer in
System>Administration>Printing.

I don't think the ability to ignore a "given full disk" is enough... I
don't see any need to be warned, for instance, that an sd card from my
digital camera is "Low on disk space" in the first place. In fact, I
can only see the need for such a warning on drives that are involved in

I couldn't figure it out at first, but I think I've realized where the problem
comes from now...
If it happens elsewhere, I can't reproduce it, but when I use
nautilus-open-terminal, right click in a folder and select "Open In Terminal",

After finishing with a terminal, sometimes it still thinks a process is
open, but the terminal itself is showing a command prompt. The
screenshot shows the dialog that comes up when I try to close the
terminal.

When I open a large (1 GB) mp4 file in nautilus in a directory with
about ten such files, the mp4 opens fine in Movie Player, but when I
close down movie player, I find that nautilus is no longer responding,
turns gray but does not use any cpu.

Oops... how do you mark a bug "product of human stupidity?" I
uninstalled the headers necessary to add the Nvidia module. Just
figured it out, all is back to normal. Please mark this bug invalid.
